The Canberra Society of Chinese Scholars has collected donations of A$3700 from our members and their families for the Sichuan Earthquake Appeal. A bank cheque of the amount was presented to Mr Huang Huijing from the Education Office of the Chinese Embassy yesterday afternoon, who will pass it to the China Education Foundation to be used in supporting the earthquake victims.

As for the Snow Storm Appeal early this year, the CSCS collected A$892 from our members (list below) and donated to the Department of Education of Guizhou Province via the Education Office of the Chinese Embassy. The proceedings have been used by the Department in reconstructing Zhuga Primary School of Shachang Township, Dafang County (贵州省大方县沙厂乡竹戛小学), one of the most severely damaged schools in the Province.
